Artist's Comments

I honestly wasn't sure what category to put this under.

I plan on turning these little things into pins, hopefully to sell at an upcoming convention. But I have two problems. First, I don't know where to buy the back of the pins. And second, I'm not sure how much to sell them for. I don't have much experience with handmade crafts.

Really, these are more about promoting my comic, [link] , not making money.

EDIT: I finally bought some pin backs. So that problem is solved.

Try a fabric/craft store for pins. If you want to be analytical about pricing, add up the cost of the materials you used to make them, then divide them by the number of units you have. Sell them for a bit more, as a general rule. Whatever you like. Good luck!

I would defiantly need one. Basically you sew a safety pin to it! easy peasy. I just looked it up on HGTV and they had a 'back layer' they sewed it to before adding all the rests.

I also dig this picture.

Saftey pins should be with like any craft section in the sewing stuff at the least I would think.

And yeah I was told, you take the cost of each unit to make it, and multiply by three it's the only way to make a profit, like, the first one is the actual unit, second is the cost of making that unit again and the third is actual hard core profit. GOOD LUCK! Not that you need it! If you can get away with more go for it, round up unless it seems too high... i guess whatever makes sense, they're very cute, felt things go over well for me I know I have a cupcake felt wallet someone made for like five bucks.

Thank you so much for the detailed comment!

I finally found what I was looking for at an AC Moore. I wound up getting a pin back with an adhesive. So basically I just stuck it on to the felt. I'm not sure how heavy duty it will be, though I plan on testing them in the next few months to see how they hold up. So hopefully it will all work out.

As for price, I'd like to charge $5. That seems like a nice, even number... Okay. It's not even, but it's an easy number. Heheh. I actually have at least one more design planed so hopefully there will be more to come.

I was thinking five. They're really awesome looking, the pin adhesive sounds awesome, I hope it is heavy duty enough, and you are right, fives are easy, probably wont have to deal with lots of ones, and they're so easy.

:O what's the other design I cannot wait to see it.
:iconmeggyc:
The other design I have planned is the design on Jared's shirt as seen here: [link]

I think it will be fun to make. And it won't be as sparkly as the other pins.

I think that's a great idea. Lots of people at cons probably dont like sports tooo xD. So they'll atleast have that. BUT also lots of people at the cons will like the sparkles. They'll be like I DONT CARE WHAT IT IS SHINY! ya know.
:iconmeggyc:
Yeah, but I still figure guys will be more likely to buy the non-sparkly thing.
